If someone told you that you had a lot in common with an Olympian—and not just any Olympian but one of America's top prospects for gold in this summer's Games—you'd probably laugh and ask them to tell you another one (amiright?). But listen up, folks. Ryan Murphy, one of the world's best swimmers, is also family: He has chronic migraines, and has been dealing with them since high school. We asked him what it's like training through pounding head pain and an upset stomach, and what he's found works for him to keep his migraines in check.
You know who else has been grappling with head pain? HealthCentral's columnist Sabrina Skiles, who spent more than a year documenting her treatment for breast cancer so that others would feel less alone going through it all. In our new video series, Skiles opens up about what getting chemo is really like, especially when you're just 35 years old and the mom of two little boys. (Hint: Not fun!) Be sure to check out her poignant journey back to health. |
