Plus: The latest insights in the LSU coaching search.
with Matthew Albright | Assistant metro editorGood morning! Check out some of our top reads from in and around Baton Rouge yesterday. How did a felon become a teacher? In Baton Rouge, a school hired a new teacher before his background check was finished — and it turned out he was a felon. The school system has since said it's halting the practice of hiring teachers provisionally before those checks are finished, but some Louisiana districts still allow it. This investigation looks at how and why we ended up with this system. How did a deer get into a hospital? A deer ran right through the front door of Our Lady of the Lake hospital on Monday, sprinting the wrong way up an escalator before it could be pinned down. This story explains how the deer ended up in the hospital and how staffers and state wildlife officials handled it. Is Jimbo really saying no?Texas A&M football coach Jimbo Fisher seems pretty tired of reporters asking whether he's interested in the soon-to-be-open LSU job. "I've told everybody I plan on being the coach at A&M," he said. "Everybody thinks all coaches lie. Y'all don't believe us, that's why we don't trust y'all. So we're even, OK?" But should we really take him off the list? Our insider, Scott Rabalais, hasn't. Here's his latest look at the candidates. Thanks for reading, and have a great day! |
