| Times Past Canberra newlyweds Peter and Jacqueline Vardos were lucky to be honeymooning in South Molle Island thanks to Peter's win on the game show Sale of the Century. The Canberra Times reported on this day in 1984 that the lucky man had been very successful on the popular game show. In addition to the South Molle Island holiday, Peter won two BMW cars and more than $80,000 ($254,000 in today's money) in prizes.
