Hot front: 90s tomorrow. You don’t have to look at the calendar to figure out the summer has arrived in Minnesota. Just go outside, and you can feel the hot, summery air this week. Highs tomorrow will be in the upper 70s in northern Minnesota to the lower 90s in the southern half of the state. There is a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon.


Floyd protests: 276 protesters arrested last night; Curfew tonight from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. in Twin Cities. After the calmest night in a week, Gov. Tim Walz struck an optimistic tone Monday morning as he announced a modified curfew for the next two nights and the start of a pullback in National Guard operations. Officials also said Sunday’s most terrifying incident — a truck driver speeding toward peaceful protesters on the I-35W bridge — appeared to be unintentional.

‘You have to arrest people’: President Trump urges governors to crack down on protesters. President Donald Trump on Monday derided the nation’s governors as “weak” and demanded tougher crackdowns on protesters angered by the killing of George Floyd. The president urged the governors to deploy the National Guard, which he credited for helping calm the situation Sunday night in Minneapolis.

Who is Derek Chauvin? What happened on the Memorial Day to George Floyd? Here’s what we know. The killing of George Floyd, who repeatedly told a Minneapolis police officer  he couldn’t breathe as the officer knelt on his neck, sparked mass protests across the nation and days of widespread looting, fires and destruction in the Twin Cities. Among the four officers involved in the arrest, who were all fired, Derek Chauvin has been charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in the killing. Here’s a summary of what we know about what happened.

COVID-19 in Minnesota today: Death toll continues to climb past 1K, 25,208 total cases confirmed. Starting today, restaurants and bars can serve dine-in customers for outdoor service, and personal services like hair salons and tattoo shops can open with limited capacity. If the loosened restrictions appear to cause a surge in cases, state leaders said they could tighten up once again.
