| The Lord Chancellor, Shabana Mahmood, this week confirmed that Crown Court judges will sit for a collective 110,000 days in the next financial year. The announcement will also boost the number of days the Immigration and Asylum Tribunal will be sitting to near maximum capacity. Alongside this, a funding increase for court maintenance and building will help us to carry out vital repairs across our courts and tribunals estate. |

| We will continue to use six temporary courts, known as Nightingale Courts, beyond the end of March 2025. This means 15 additional courtrooms across England will be available to use into the next financial year. |

| We have been working with local police forces across England and Wales to help them transition the way they process Single Justice Procedure cases, moving to a new digital service on Common Platform. This week, the final police force went live with the new system meaning national rollout is now complete. These changes make the whole process clearer, less costly and more straightforward â particularly for defendants who have been accused of minor offences and may have never appeared in a courtroom before. |

| From Tuesday 11 March 2025, we will be introducing a new system to maintain probate applications that have been started but not submitted on MyHMCTS (known as draft applications). When your inactive draft cases are 90 days old, you will receive an email advising you that your draft case will be deleted. You will have a choice to either log in via a hyperlink contained in the email, or to log into the case via your MyHMCTS dashboard and make an edit or addition to your draft application so it will not be deleted. Alternatively, you can ignore the email and the case will be deleted after a further 90 days. |
