Friday 4 July 2025 A weekly round-up of the latest news and information about courts and tribunals | | This year, £148 million is being invested to upgrade court and tribunal buildings, making them more efficient, resilient and creating more positive and welcoming environments for court users. Over 180 essential repair projects are underway, with new, modern courthouses in London and Blackpool also in development. Our latest blog from our Property Director on how we're planning to deliver these projects and what court and tribunal users can expect from these renovations. | | We shared expertise at the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice conference this month, with our South East Deputy Head of Operations joining the Network of Pilot Courts discussions. We showcased our HMCTS Reform Programme and digital transformation journey to international justice partners. | | Over the last few months, we've seen more than 3,000 students from 195 schools stepping into courtroom roles in the Magistrates' Mock Trial Competition. Students have prepared diligently as prosecutors, defence lawyers, witnesses, and magistrates, working with real case materials to deliver compelling arguments. The competition has given these young people an insight into how our justice system operates â from understanding legal principles to experiencing courtroom procedures first-hand. As well as funding these events, our colleagues volunteer their time to help out on the day and our buildings are used as venues. This is part of our wider outreach programme to gain awareness of our different roles and career opportunities. | | What did you think of this email? | | |
