Changes to fees for HM Land Registry information services from December
From Monday 9 December, fees for HM Land Registry information services will increase for the first time in more than 10 years. The increase reflects the increased costs of running and improving HM Land Registry’s services, as well as plans to increase digitalisation and transformation of data. However, even with this increase, the majority of customers will still be paying less than they were in 1992.

During another busy year we received significantly more service requests than the previous year against the backdrop of an active property market. We continued to focus on speeding up processing times with some positive results, while acknowledging there is still more to do.

Are you involved in restriction removal applications?
We are working on ways to simplify and reduce the turnaround for simple restriction removals, currently via RX3 (Cancel a restriction) and RX4 (Withdraw a restriction) forms. We are exploring the feasibility of automating any suitable applications, aiming to reduce the backlog by processing these automatically on submission where possible, rather than manually by a caseworker.

If you are involved in these applications at any stage we would be grateful if you could answer a few questions to help assess feasibility, identify any challenges and lay the groundwork for a successful change. The survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete and everything you share is strictly confidential.

July 2024 Transaction Data
In July we completed 2,092,554 applications, compared with 1,842,891 in June and 1,912,634 last July 2023. A total of 214,947 were search and hold queries (official searches) compared with 194,273 in June.

It's now much easier to add additional parties to Digital Registration Service applications
HM Land Registry continues to respond and listen to user feedback. Amending transferor names and adding additional parties to Digital Registration Service applications is now much easier.
