Here’s what you missed.
Hi Friend — Yesterday our Editor-in-Chief Jodi Rudoren hosted an incredibly energizing and engaging conversation featuring questions from our readers across the country! If you missed it, here are some of the highlights: Jodi spoke about drawing on The Forward's rich history to be essential to American Jews of today. To stay relevant and true to our audience, she said, we're always thinking: "What does it mean to be an American Jew today? What are American Jews talking about today?" She stressed that it's important we acknowledge and create for the broadness of that audience. Jodi also didn't shy away from the tough questions. She dove into a question submitted by a reader, who wondered whether anti-Zionism assumed the role of publicly acceptable anti-Semitism. And when asked by a staff writer what areas of American Judaism she thought were broadly under-covered, she picked up the camera and gave an impromptu tour of The Forward's office, where several staff writers made an appearance and contributed their thoughts to poignant questions about modern American Jews and the state of the journalism industry, as well as other fun questions, like the possibility of hosting a podcast and adding reporters in Israel.
