Dear John, Do you have high expectations that often end in disappointment? High expectations for business success or career advancement? High expectations for how well your children will do in school or in relationships? High expectations for the goals you want to accomplish? We are all familiar with the idea of lowering our expectations so that we are not disappointed. The fact is that both high expectations and low expectations can lead to less than desirable outcomes. Disappointment and settling for mediocrity are not things we want to deal with on a daily basis. Here is a great quote I picked up from listening to Tim Ferris on Dave Ramsey’s Entreleadership podcast. “We don't rise to the level of our expectations, we fall to the level of our training.” -Archilochos I love this quote! Don’t fall into the trap of judging yourself on what you hoped would happen, but rather on how much you trained and prepared yourself to insure the best possible outcome. "You are Born To Win, but in order to be the winner you were born to be, you must Plan to win, Prepare to win, and then and only then can you Expect to win.” -Zig Ziglar Dad had it right. High expectations are perfectly fine, as long as they are based on the planning, preparing, and training necessary to achieve the outcome. You are Born To Win, so go ahead and Live To Win! Tom P.S.
