Here's why you should update your voter registration
Over 30 million eligible voters have been purged in recent years. Make sure your voter registration is up to date. It only takes a few minutes. Make sure you're #ReadyToVote! |
Friend, In order to defend clean air, clean water, and healthy ecosystems for everyone, we need to make sure, first and foremost, that we defend everyone's right to participate in our democracy. That means we need to defend the right to vote, and that sacred right is currently under attack. Protect your vote! Take a few minutes right now to make sure your voter registration is up to date. In recent years, many states have begun aggressively purging voter rolls -- sometimes illegally. That means even perfectly eligible voters may go to the polls on Election Day only to find out they are no longer registered, and won't be allowed to vote with a regular ballot, meaning their vote might not be counted at all. Even worse, if you vote by mail you may not find out your vote was thrown out until well after Election Day. Every time you move, even across town, you have to update your voter registration. Change your name? You have to update your voter registration. Change party affiliation in a state with closed primaries? That's right: You have to update your voter registration! Don't be left holding a provisional ballot next Election Day. Make sure you're #ReadyToVote! Join us before the end of 2019 and update your voter registration using our easy online tool. As an added benefit you can also sign up for election reminders to make sure you know when local, state and federal elections are coming up. Courtney Hight Democracy Program Director Sierra Club P.S.
