Tourism Australia Tourism Australia invites RFP responses for an event management company to lead and support the procurement and execution of all on-site activities for the Australia Marketplace North America event in Los Angeles, and other smaller event projects in North America, from 2023-2025.
BETHESDA, MD.: After six years of planning, design, and construction, Marriott International has opened its global headquarters in downtown Bethesda. The 21-story, 785,000-square-foot, LEEDv4 Gold-certified building is the new workplace for corporate associates. Marriott’s new HQ campus, which includes the new Marriott Bethesda Downtown at Marriott HQ hotel next door, is designed to enable connectivity, collaboration, growth, ideation, and well-being through diverse, dynamic spaces and state-of-the-art technology. The new building will also serve as a global hub for Marriott’s research and development operation.
LAS VEGAS: Caesars Palace announced the completion of a multimillion-dollar renovation of its main entrance, iconic casino dome, and porte-cochère. The redesigned space includes a dramatic entryway with a coffered ceiling, refreshed gaming areas, and the new Galleria Bar in the hotel lobby. The property's legendary, crystal-cloaked casino dome now boasts a new, larger crystal chandelier that weighs approximately 3,200 pounds and comprises12,000 individual crystals.
LOS ANGELES: The Costume Designers Guild—a union of more than 1,200 costume designers and illustrators around the world formed for the promotion and protection of the art of costume design—has announced the timeline for its annual awards ceremony. Costume Designers Guild Awards (CDGA) submissions are open now through Nov. 4, and nominees will be announced on Jan. 12, 2023. The annual awards ceremony will take place on Feb. 27, 2023 at the Fairmont Century Plaza. Details regarding the ceremony’s host, presenters, honorees, sponsors, and more will be announced in the coming months.
NEW YORK: Hilton has announced the appointment of Diarmuid Dwyer to area managing director of Hilton’s New York City managed hotel portfolio. In the new role, Dwyer will oversee the hotels’ general managers, area operations, and commercial capabilities throughout the Big Apple. Previously, Dwyer served as the general manager of the New York Hilton Midtown, a 1,878-room property with the largest meeting space footprint and ballroom in any of the city’s hotels. A pickleball concept is launching at Hudson Yards on Oct. 1 and will run through Oct. 31. Dubbed CityPickle, the month-long installation is debuting as part of Power Hour at the Backyard at Hudson Yards presented by Wells Fargo. Aside from free court rentals—which are available to reserve as of today—guests can also participate in lessons and clinics.
