| I recently watched the latest film adaptation of the classic sci-fi novel series, Dune. It’s a visually dazzling movie (which is why I saw it in the theater) but it was actually one line of dialogue that stood out to me. In the film, Duke Leto Atreides addresses his son’s misgivings about leadership with this line: “A great man doesn't seek to lead. He's called to it. And he answers.” It made me think about all the reluctant leaders in Scripture: Moses, Isaiah, Gideon, Paul. Sometimes the best leaders are actually the reluctant ones. But often it falls to others to help reluctant leaders get past their hesitancy to step up and lead. That’s the goal behind this week’s resource.
