I don't think this will come as a big shock to anyone who has been paying attention, but people absolutely love watching videos on the internet.

Cat videos, cooking videos, dance videos — you name it. They love it so much that online video is expected to account for 82.5% of all web traffic, making it the most popular type of content over the internet.

What does all that mean for advisors? It means that it's time to break out the ring light and get ready for your closeup.

The good news is that a number of organizations are paying attention to the power of video to drive engagement and are putting together programs to help advisors who don't know the first thing about creating this kind of content remain competitive.

The latest company to bring a fresh solution to the table is Snappy Kraken, who has entered a partnership with video production company Idea Decanter to give advisors access to a remote video studio complete with an editing crew and live coaching during video shoots.

The collaboration follows offerings from legacy Wall Street giants like Merrill and Raymond James that aim to help financial professionals capture the attention of prospects in a new way, and keep the pressure on finfluencers who dominate clicks but aren't seen as the most trustworthy sources of financial advice.
