FOR CLOSE TO 100 YEARS the Royal Canadian Geographical Society has been helping Canadians expand their knowledge of the physical, environmental, and cultural geography of Canada, encouraging the spirit of exploration and adventure through expeditions and research.

Today, the idea of exploring our world means something different than it did when the RCGS was founded in 1929. But our goal - to inspire Canadians to care about and take action to preserve our vast geographical heritage - remains constant.

The Society now has four distinctive programs including, Research and Expedition grants, The Trebek Initiative, and Explorers-in-Residence that help us reveal Canada to Canadians in new and dynamic ways.

In 2024, grantees will, among other things, climb Rocky Mountain peaks, explore endangered belugas' winter habitats, descend into the unknown depths of uncharted caves, investigate supplementation as a management tool to help strengthen muskoxen populations and paddle through thousands of kilometres of Canada's waterways by canoe and kayak.

It's ambitious - our most ambitious year of expeditions yet. Please consider supporting our explorers this year through a donation to the Royal Canadian Geographical Society today.
