Sometimes you just need a little push to make a change and start exercising.

That’s why we’ve launched the Get Your Body Right series, which will run for six weeks and give you tips on how to do exactly that.

For the first week we reveal one of the best exercises you can do after 35.

In this six-part guide we’ll also have step-by-step videos to walk you through how experts say you can improve your fitness from your own home.

And to make you feel like you have a workout buddy, respected journalist Anthony Dowsley will take part and share his progress in each instalment.

He has a great reason for doing it.

See what he has to say below:

As 2025 rolled in, I knew I was about to make another empty resolution.

Lose weight, eat healthier, train for a half-marathon. The list goes on.

But this time the signs were all there that over the previous 12 months my health had been rapidly declining.

At 54, and weighing 90kg, a couple of laps of the local footy ground felt like a marathon.

Any modicum of fitness was getting further and further away in the rear-view mirror.

So, I gave myself an incentive: I would sign myself up for a trek.

I’ve always wanted to see Peru’s citadel in the clouds, Machu Picchu.

It’s time to crack in.

Meanwhile, it has now been five years since the Covid pandemic began, so this special investigation and four-part docu-series into the enduring toll of lockdowns on youth mental health is a must-read and watch.

I hope you have a great week – and if, like Anthony, you try some of the exercises please let us know how you go at [email protected].
