The Advocate's Top Headlines

with Kelly P. Kissel | Metro editor

Good afternoon. Here are some of our top headlines today.

Improvements at the Baton Rouge Zoo and Greenwood Park are behind what is expected to be a nearly 20% increase in spending at the city-parish park system. BREC Superintendent Corey Wilson has unveiled a $151 million spending plan for 2022. The BREC system had $127 million in its 2021 budget. Terry Jones looks at the new financial documents.

The lunar eclipse this morning was quite a sight,  though it was a bit too chilly to be standing in the driveway at 3 a.m. to take it in. Miss it? Check out these photos.

An increasing number of sports writers are losing faith in LSU's ability to become bowl-eligible this year. The Tigers have two games left, against Louisiana-Monroe next week and Texas A&M next week, and have to win them both if they want to extend Ed Orgeron's coaching career at LSU.
