B7 in Turin: Ensuring a competitive decarbonisation |
On 28 April, BusinessEurope participated in the second G7 2024 Industry Stakeholders Conference themed “Making the Energy and the Environmental Transitions Drivers of Competitiveness”. |
This conference coincided with the G7 Ministerial meeting on "Energy, Environment and Climate," providing a platform for businesses to support ministers in addressing urgent challenges. Director General Markus J. Beyrer participated in a panel discussion on ‘competitive decarbonisation’, highlighting Europe's need to decarbonise without deindustrialising. "Ultimately, it’s about being competitive on costs and ensuring there is a business case to decarbonise. This will largely depend on |
our abilities to ensure access to competitive green energy, close the investment gap, and scale up global demand for clean tech". This underscores the need for an Industrial Deal to flank the EU Green Deal to make it a growth programme. As geopolitical tensions rise and global energy demands surge, collaborative efforts between public and private sectors are vital to achieve common goals. Business leaders are committed to driving sustainable development. |
