Welcome to the Saints Insider newsletter for Thursday, Feb. 3. The Saints' search for a new head coach intensified this week as team officials began the interview process with a handful of candidates for the job left vacant by head coach Sean Payton, who stepped down last week. General manager Mickey Loomis provided an update on the Saints coaching search on Wednesday, and said the club "has work to do" before naming a successor to Payton. Luke Johnson has the story. Brian Flores, one of the candidates for the New Orleans Saints’ job, wants to be an NFL head coach again and is hoping the lawsuit he filed Tuesday against the NFL and three of its teams (the Miami Dolphins, New York Giants and Denver Broncos), alleging racism in its hiring practices, won’t be held against him. “I’m very hopeful that I will (get a job),” Flores said. Rod Walker has the full story, with reaction from Loomis and Saints linebacker Demario Davis. A clear favorite has emerged in the field of candidates, and I identify him in my column, which breaks down the pros and cons of each finalist. I also provide my Morning Line odds on the field of five finalists. We also learned Wednesday that the Saints are scheduled to play a game in London, England during the 2022 season, according to sources. The last time the Saints played overseas was 2017. This will be third time the Saints have played a regular season game in London, which has been a friendly alternate site for the club. Continue to check NOLA.com throughout the day on Thursday as our coverage team provides more updates on the Saints and their coaching search. As always, thanks for your loyal readership and support.
