BY MATTHEW ALBRIGHT | Staff writer LSU's offensive players will want to forget that game against Arkansas on Saturday. The Razarbacks sacked Jayden Daniels repeatedly and bottled up the Tigers. But the defense was ferocious, and true freshman linebacker Harold Perkins was a one-man wrecking crew. And that was enough to win. Here's a look at how Perkins went into overdrive — even though he'd thrown up earlier in the morning. With a tearful prayer, Louisiana's conference of the United Methodist Church voted to allow 58 churches — including 7 of them in the Baton Rouge region — to disaffiliate from the denomination. It's part of a world-wide splintering over many issues, including same-sex marriage and LGBTQ clergy. LSU took Troy Middleton's name off its library in 2020, amid national protests over racism. Many students felt Middleton's support for keeping LSU segregated while he was president should disqualify him from the honor. The school launched a committee to study whether other buildings should be renamed, but it was quietly disbanded. Now the student government is condeming President William F. Tate IV, saying he's abandoning the issue. Here's the students' criticism, and how Tate is responding. |
