Healing the heart in heartbreaking times. |
Harbin is important because it makes an effective, noticeable difference in people’s lives. That’s why we created it. That’s why it has grown and thrived for more than 40 years. And that’s why – especially in the aftermath of California’s most-recent devastations – Harbin’s impact is so badly needed now.
The Valley Fire did much more than destroy our buildings and forests: it closed one of the world’s most vital and beloved resources for sanity, wholeness, pleasure, and good. |

Significant progress already, and more to come. |
With three major wildfires since 2015, well over 150,000 acres of Lake County have recently burned, including hundreds of homes and businesses. Since these fires, our county’s Planning Departments have been overwhelmed with the profusion of applications required for building permits and subsequent approvals. Progress has been frustratingly slow for almost everyone.
Yet even with the majority of our forests and more than 95% of our infrastructure destroyed, Harbin has been able to make significant headway in our very passionate work to rebuild.
Already, we have: • Cleared hundreds of acres of our burned land, and begun an extensive and ecologically progressive reforestation program. • Replaced and upgraded the mainside infrastructure essential to all phases of our rebuild. • Nearly completed restoring our pools, building a new sundeck, and adding an additional hot plunge, a dedicated therapy pool, and improved ADA access. • And we have improved and expanded our camping areas, purchased new Groves cabins, and brought in temporary structures for massage, food service, and more. |
|
Truly, given the scope of destruction and local competition to rebuild, we have done remarkably well. Harbin is closer than ever to once again serving all those who need us.
We understand that you may be inundated with requests for financial assistance, especially in light of California’s most recent catastrophes. We also know that Harbin offers something profoundly unique, effective, and important: a sanctuary of sanity in an increasingly challenging world, and a guest experience that leaves virtually all who come here feeling healthier, happier, and more whole.
We think that’s worth quite a lot, and hope you do to. Please support Harbin generously now – for your own future wellbeing, and for all those near and far who need Harbin’s magic. |
