| | | Edition 28 | 2022 | | Dear John Do, | | Mixed reality applications such as apps, gaming and e-commerce are now common and in healthcare as well. Software by the Hamburg-based startup Apoqlar converts medical information from MRI scans and ultrasound images into 3D holograms, depicting anatomical structures in minute detail, according to founder Sirko Pelzl. The holographic images are sent to doctors on mixed reality headsets. Read more about this in the latest part of our series "Technologies of the future in medicine”. In other news, Hamburger Hochbahn has set up a new company named New Mobility Solutions to accelerate digitalisation in transport while the European Research Council has honoured a neuroscientist at the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). Also Hamburg has secured a bid to host a meeting of the world Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) in the refurbished CCH next year.
