Dear John,
When he founded Ananda in 1969, fifty years ago, Swami Kriyananda’s first act was to build a retreat where visitors could stay and study with us. That priority—service first—set the tone for all that followed in Swamiji’s life, and at Ananda more generally.

| To share the light that we have received is a guiding principle at Ananda. What more natural impulse, after all, than to want to share with others what we ourselves have received through the teachings and life of Paramhansa Yogananda, and from Ananda itself, the work of Swami Kriyananda’s hands and heart? We share in order to support others who are seeking Self-realization. We share as an act of love. |

| This year Ananda celebrates half a century of sharing the light. You are invited to give to the 2019 Ananda Worldwide Appeal and join your light with others around the world. Yogananda brought a teaching that, he declared, would enable us “to stand unshaken amidst the crash of breaking worlds!” Together let us uplift consciousness, our own and others’, in the face of these trying times in which we live.
