| I strive to give voice to the energy that flows through all of nature. The ocean with its drama, dynamism and mercurial temperament is a major source of inspiration for me, and I hope that others catch a glimpse of that energy through my paintings.
I have always been captivated by nature. I grew up in the Colorado mountains and loved photographing them, but later when I first saw the ocean it took my breath away. It was then that I began painting landscapes and seascapes to express my passion for nature. In the past I spent much of my life as a lawyer working to protect the California coast and now painting is my fulltime pursuit.
I create watercolor and oil paintings, and presently I'm focusing on oil painting that I do alla prima in an abstract style. The abstract nature of my work allows me the freedom to express myself spontaneously and to work in a gestural style, often with saturated colors. |
