Man quits job to become full-time PokĂ©mon hunter A New Zealand man has done what we've all been fantasizing about since PokĂ©mon Go dropped this summer: he quit his job to roam the countryside on a quest to catch âem all. Tom Currie, 24, decided enough was enough. âThe manâ will not suppress a Trainerâs desire to seek the rarest (and dare we say legendary?) of PokĂ©mon. Armed with a backpack of supplies and smartphone full of PokĂ©balls, Currie has already captured 90 of the 151 PokĂ©mon in the game. âI wanted to have an adventure,â Currie said. âI have been working for six years, and I was desperate for a break. And PokĂ©mon gave me the chance to live that dream.â Currie has been encouraged by friends, transport companies offering to get him to remote parts of the country, and even his supportive (yet naive) mother, who says, âHis nana and I donât understand the game, but I remember him loving it in his childhood.â Sure, itâs an unconventional move. But sometimes if you wanna be the very best, like no one ever was, you gotta follow your heart and âunderstand the power thatâs inside.â PokĂ©mon! |
