A $5 million venture aims to bring affordable housing to this north Lafayette neighborhood

BY DEANNA B. NARVESON | Staff writer

A local group is planning to invest $5.1 million in a north Lafayette residential neighborhood with the intention of bringing affordable homeownership to residents, through financial education and help with down payments.

The group, led by developer Ravi Daggula, bought 83 residential properties in the Bayberry Point neighborhood, which is near the intersection of N. St. Antoine Street and Hammond Road.

Some Bayberry Point residents own their homes, but others are decades-long rental properties that have begun to deteriorate, said State Sen. Gerald Boudreaux, D-Lafayette. The neighborhood was chosen because it is a defined area of north Lafayette that has seen little to no investment. Read more about their plans here.

Also today we have a Q&A with founder of Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux, Brandon Landry. In the two decades that have passed since Landry launched the chain he has become one of the most successful restaurant operators in the Louisiana.
