Yves Lampaert (Belgium), Fabio Jakobsen and Dylan Groenewegen (Netherlands) won the first three stages of the 2022 Tour de France, meaning that riders from the Benelux countries won the three opening stages of this edition. This is the first time since 1978 that the first three stage victories in a Tour de France have been won by riders from this part of Europe : Jan Raas won the prologue in Leiden on his home turf in the Netherlands, and then grabbed another win the next day in St. Willebrord. The third stage was then won by the Belgian Walter Planckaert.
