Good morning Valued Subscriber,
The torment for Edward Houghton and his family is almost unimaginable. His daughter, Odette, vanished without a trace while travelling in India almost 34 years ago. The grief has never subsided and many questions remain unanswered. Mr Houghton shared his heartbreaking story with Steve Evans. Elsewhere, the Prime Minister has pledged to slash power bills once again, as the cost of living looms as the defining issue for this year's federal election. Tim Piccione and Dana Daniel have the details on the pre-budget announcement. Summer might have nominally ended a few weeks ago, but today marks a more official end to the hot season: the end of the swim season at the city's pools. However, that doesn't mean the end of outdoor swimming for the growing league of Canberrans who choose to dive into our artificial lakes. Tim the Yowie Man wades into some uncharted waters in this week's column. Don't mind the eels and snakes. Last night, the ACT Brumbies fell short at Sydney Football Stadium, losing 28-23 to the NSW Waratahs. You can read about the game, courtesy of Caden Helmers, here. There's still a bit of heat in store this week, with a top of 26 degrees on Sunday under some cloudy skies. Enjoy the rest of your weekend |
