'My heart rate went up like billy-o'
Bob Thatcher was fishing when he noticed a tiger snake on board his four-metre tinny.

The fisherman, in his 80s, threw his jumper over the snake and steered his boat back to the jetty, where a reptile catcher was waiting.

"I had the snake sitting about 30cm from my feet when I realised it was there and my heart rate went up like billy-o," he says.
