Greens Covering Begins
Wednesday, December 21st

Due to the cold temperatures forecasted, we will be covering the greens this coming Wednesday the 21st. We will begin uncovering our greens at some point on Tuesday, December 27th after the frost burns off. Given the forecasted high temperatures, we will plan to have the following schedule:

Wednesday 12/21: Course closed; driving range open 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM. Golf shop open 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.

Thursday 12/22: Course closed; driving range open 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM. Golf shop open 8:30 AM - until end of day.

Friday 12/23: Course closed; driving range open 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM with a hard close at 3:00 PM. Clean pick on range begins at 3:00 PM. Golf shop open until 5:00 PM.

Saturday 12/24: All facilities closed; forecasted high temperature is below 40.

Sunday 12/25: All facilities closed for Christmas.

Monday 12/26: All facilities closed; forecasted high temperature is below 40.

Tuesday 12/27: Golf shop open 8:30 AM - end of day. Driving range open 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM. Course will open at some point in the late afternoon. Greens uncovering is scheduled to begin around 10:00 AM depending on frost.

Many factors are considered when deciding whether to cover greens. Low temperatures are obviously one of the main factors, but we also must consider how long will the temperatures be that low. One or two hours of low temperatures would not be a big concern if the elevated temperature for the day reaches into the mid-forties. Moisture levels need to be monitored as well. A cold, wet event is much better than a cold, dry event. We will keep you informed when a weather event is on the way as regards to covering.

When the greens are covered and the course is closed, we will open the driving range with adjusted hours if the high temperature is forecasted to be over 40 degrees.

Covering greens is a several hour-long process (more if the wind is high) so it is possible we will have to start covering well before the colder temperatures begin.
