He will read excerpts from his activity book 'Wilmington in Color: Part 2 - History in Action' from the site of the Battle of Forks Road, located on CAM grounds. Exhibition Illumination 2020 Opening Friday, November 20, 10 AM-7:30 PM, with awards announced after 5 PM
Visit CAM November 20 to view the latest installation of Illumination, an exhibition of artist-made lanterns. This year artists were asked to look within and create light sculptures that explore what the concept of light means to them personally. CAM received over 50 submissions, from artists across the country and as far away as Canada. Three awards, picked by a panel of community judges, will be announced after 5:00 pm. This year’s judges include Clifford D. Barnett, Sr. (Wilmington City Council), Joe Conway (Dir. Health Equity, Human Experience, & Interpreter Services, New Hanover Regional Medical Center), Amy Grant (artist and owner Art in Bloom gallery), Brandon Guthrie (Dean of Arts and Humanities at Cape Fear Community College), Deborah Dicks Maxwell (District 16 Director, NC NAACP), Lorraine Perry (Healing Arts Advocate), Fidias Reyes (Director of Engagement UNCW Presents), and Susie Sewell (Executive Director of the Camp Schreiber Foundation and Co-founder of thoughtbox). The exhibition will be on view until January 10, 2021. |

Judson Hurd is a composer based in Wilmington, NC. He is influenced by the music of Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds, Chad Lawson, Band of Horses, and other artists in the Neo-Classical and ambient genre. Judson Hurd began playing piano at age 4 and later studied at the Franz Schubert Conservatory in Paraguay. Judson's music and compositions usually feature piano but he also uses synths, samplers, guitars, to amplify his ideas. His music has been used for many projects such as Android, the Oprah Show, NBC, NPR, and many others. |
