The Great Lakes are at stake.
Dear John,

Michigan is a state that is literally defined by water. But for the entire Great Lakes region, and the world beyond, the shape of our future is defined by water as well.

Our dear friend, astronaut Jerry Linenger, captured this in his photograph from Space Station Mir.

Circle of Blue captures the same view in its tenacious exploration of water around the globe, and its sharp focus on our homewaters: the Great Lakes Basin. We’ve led the way with vital news on everything from PFAS to Legionnaire’s disease to water debt, and we’re not stopping there.

Circle of Blue is writing the story of the world’s largest surface freshwater system, on a beautiful and fragile blue sphere suspended in space.

Your support makes this work possible. Thanks to a challenge from NewsMatch, a movement to support nonprofit news, your donations will be matched from now until December 31. NewsMatch will match your new monthly donation 12 times or double your one-time gift, up to $1,000. It’s offering us up to $13,000 in matching funds, so with your help we could raise up to $26,000 in total with this effort.

Will you help preserve the world’s freshwater?

Yes, I support Circle of Blue!
With thanks,
The Circle of Blue Team
