Dear Voornaam, Itâs Primary Day! As Chair of the Democratic Party of Oregon, I am filled with gratitude for the courage of all our Democratic candidates across Oregon who have stepped forward to serve their communities and state. I am equally grateful to all you volunteers and activists who have given your time, energy, and money to support the candidates that inspire you. While I cannot begin to predict who will win todayâs primary elections, I can predict that many of you will be excited and others will be disappointed. No matter where you land as the results come in, I appreciate you and all your hard work to elect Democrats to lead Oregon forward. Your passion to make the world a better place is the best part of being a Democrat. As the Republican Party attacks our democracy and right-wing judges attempt to take away our reproductive rights, rights to privacy, voting rights, and other vital freedoms, we must focus on the fight ahead. The Democratic Party of Oregon stands ready to do everything possible to support the Democratic nominees who win their primaries. We all must work together to make sure that we defeat Republicans in November. Whatever todayâs results, and after we give each other the time to breathe, heal, and recharge, we must know in our hearts that our Democratic values will carry us forward. Let us share those common values in our communities and continue our quest to build a more just world. No matter which candidate you supported in the primary, you fought hard and stood for your values. And because Democrats actually believe in democracy, unlike too many powerful Republican politicians, we must come together to win in November. We canât go backwards. Weâre going to work as a team to beat Republicans at every level. Please join me over the next 5 and 1/2 months as we come together in our shared Democratic values to make the world a better place for everyone. Democratically Yours,
