Grandview Children’s Centre is a place where the impossible becomes possible, where goals are achieved and where dreams come true. Grandview is the only children’s treatment centre in Durham Region, providing specialized services and support for children and youth with special needs. The New Grandview will be a state-of-the-art facility with much needed space to run more programs and provide treatment to more Grandview kids. Grandview's demand has now reached over 9,000 kids with more than 3,000 on a waitlist. We believe in the New Grandview, but our Believe campaign is about more than just a building. It's about helping more kids today and tomorrow. Please join us on our journey to create the New Grandview. |

| Jerry Coughlan of J.F.C Developments Ltd. donates $5 million towards the New Grandview, is honoured with namesake building. Thank you, Jerry, for BELIEVING! |

On Saturday, November 18 at the 2017 Pickering Mayor’s Gala, Grandview Kids experienced a little bit of magic. Not only were we the recipients of some of the funds raised from the Pickering Mayor’s Gala, but we were also surprised with another incredible announcement. Jerry Coughlan of J.F.C. Developments Ltd. took the stage to announce a donation of $5 million to Grandview’s Believe campaign. A simple thank-you is not enough to show how grateful we are for this generous donation, so we will be naming the new main headquarters after Jerry. We also would like to thank the Pickering Mayor’s Gala for their donation to Grandview Children’s Centre and choosing to support us with some of the proceeds from the event. |

Grandview Advocate Mike Forman: Why I Give to Grandview |
|
Mike Forman is very active in the Grandview community. He’s been the owner of the Whitby McDonalds locations for 11 years, has been working with McDonalds for 40 years and has been donating to Grandview Children’s Foundation for quite some time now. During the time Mr. Forman has been with McDonalds, he has worked with Ronald McDonald House Charities. “McDonald’s has always been about kids, in terms of the things we support so there was a nice fit with Grandview,” said Mr. Forman. “I hadn’t actually been there. Just based on the reputation and what it was, we raised some money on McHappy Day that year and we went to present the cheque. We walked into Grandview and we walked out sold. It hooked us completely.” What has kept Mr. Forman involved with Grandview over the years? It’s the kids and their families that impact him the most. “It’s the incredible challenges of having a child with special needs, in some cases more than one child, and what it does to your family. There are blessings that go with it but there’s also a lifestyle change. Grandview’s a place that can help off-set that and help families manage that,” said Mr. Forman. “The idea that there’s kids out there that can’t get in, drives me crazy. What can we do to get all the kids in that need it in a reasonable period of time?” What Mike Forman has been able to do is continue to offer us his support and help Grandview continue to help the kids who need it and help us continue to grow. Thank you for believing in us! |

Sign marking future home of Grandview Kids in Ajax is unveiled! |
|
| November also marked a milestone for Grandview Children’s Centre, as a parcel of land donated by the Town of Ajax on Harwood Avenue North was officially marked the future site of the new Grandview Children’s Centre headquarters. The official sign unveiling took place on November 3 with Ajax Council, local MPPs and Grandview staff and families on hand. “There is so much excitement about a sign,” explained Grandview Children’s Centre CEO Lorraine Sunstrum-Mann. “This sign is more than just an indicator of where the future centre will be built. It marks a monumental milestone on our long-awaited journey to create a new Grandview.” Grandview’s main facility in Oshawa was built in 1983 to serve just 400 children. It now serves more than 6,000 children and youth with special needs annually in Durham Region and there are 3,000 more on a wait-list. |
