Autofest helps Grandview Kids
in BIG ways!
Autofest is more than just an annual classic car show. It acts as an important fundraiser for Grandview Children's Centre.
Since 2002, Autofest has donated over $243,000 to Grandview Kids, thanks to support from community organizations Motor City Car Club, North Oshawa Lions Club and Oshawa West Lions Club.
Doug Stapleton, this year's Autofest Nationals Committee Chair, said when it came to choosing a charity to support, selecting Grandview Kids was a "no brainer."
"Past Motor City Car Club member, Gus Gordon approached the committee to see if we would consider supporting Grandview. A tour of the facilities and meeting Owen and his parents was all we needed to get on board," explained Doug. "We have been VERY proud to support Grandview ever since."
Owen Derby is Grandview's Autofest Ambassador. He has been a fixture at Autofest for the past five years. The Autofest team has had the chance to see Owen grow up in front of their very eyes, seeing first hand the incremental steps forward Owen has taken with Grandview's help. In fact, it was at last year's Autofest that Owen walked for the first time without his walker or canes. Fast-forward a month later and Owen completed the RUN AJAX Grandview Kids 1K race, walking all on his own.
But when it comes to choosing the most memorable moment of Autofest for Doug, he said it is "Owen's constant smile" that stands out. He said that combined with a tour of the facility and meeting the staff and other Grandview Kids should be enough to encourage anyone to want to support Grandview.

Complete the two step registration process today to sign up for RUN AJAX and fundraise for Grandview Kids!
Step 1: - Register with Grandview Kids. You’ll be asked to commit to fundraising a minimum of $100 for Grandview Kids. Your own personal fundraising page will be created, which you can share with your friends, family and coworkers.
Step 2: -Register with RUN AJAX. Sign up with Run Ajax’s partner, Race Roster, so that you are registered to participate in the Grandview Kids 1k, or Adult 5k or 15K races.
You must complete both registrations to ensure you are registered on October 1st.
