Over CHF 50,000 in creation-support grants: Images Vevey's international photography competition return! Professional artists and photographers, as well as those in training, have until February 28 to enter the competition for the 13th Grand Prix Images Vevey and/or the 4th Images Vevey Book Award 2021/2022. GRAND PRIX IMAGES VEVEY is a creation-support grant for photography projects. The award, worth some 40 000 CHF (approx. 37 000 EUR), enables one artist to develop a new photography project over a year that will be presented at the next Festival Images in 2022. The competition represents unique support for contemporary creation, with complete freedom of choice over subject and genre. In 2019/2020, the Grand Prix Images Vevey was awarded to Kristine Potter (United States) for Dark Waters, a reflection upon the air of violence that permeates the land, its history and the cultural output of the American Southeast. |

"Woman Go No’Gree" by Gloria Oyarzabal Laureate of Images Vevey Book Award 2019/2020 |

IMAGES VEVEY BOOK AWARD is a grant worth 10 000 CHF (approx. 9250 EUR) that supports the creation of a book project which showcases an optimal and original balance between publication format and photographic content. It provides a financial contribution that aims to encourage artists to take risks and to innovate, in order for them to develop a suitable sophisticated publication format for their photography project. In 2019/2020, Gloria Oyarzabal (Spain) was the winner of the Images Vevey Book Award for the publication "Woman Go No'Gree" (Editorial RM/Images Vevey). Awarded "PhotoBook of the Year 2020" by Paris Photo-Aperture Foundation New York, this book addresses the relevance of the Western feminist model applied to the African continent. A jury made up of picture professionals will meet at the end of May 2021 to select the prize-winners. Of course, the priority for Images Vevey’ organisers is to guarantee a quality artistic experience, while meeting the requirements of the current sanitary situation. The winning projects will be produced during the year and will be presented at the next Festival Images Vevey from 2 to 25 September 2022. |
