As states across the nation work to get vaccines into the arms of vulnerable (and willing) citizens, the state of Washington is enlisting some help. As a part of its all-hands-on-deck approach to curbing the deadly effects of COVID-19, Gov. Jay Inslee established the Washington State Vaccine Command and Coordination Center to ensure that the process goes as smoothly as possible. New Federal CISO Has State Roots Former Michigan Chief Information Officer Chris DeRusha left that position last summer to head up cybersecurity efforts for the campaign of then-presidential hopeful Joe Biden. It’s not surprising, then, that DeRusha has now been called on to serve as CISO for the United States. It’s not the first time DeRusha will be working in Washington, D.C. He also held a cybersecurity position under former President Obama.
