The Biden administration has proposed a new rule that would require foster care agencies to place LGBT-identified children with families that will affirm their gender identity and sexual orientation. The proposed rule was unveiled by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Administration for Children and Families on Thursday. Full Story.

The Gospel Coalition has launched The Carson Center for Theological Renewal in a bid to combat biblical illiteracy and "heretical" modern teachings. The Gospel Coalition's editor-in-chief, Collin Hansen, says the initiative will foster spiritual renewal globally "by providing excellent theological resources for the whole church—for anyone called to teach and anyone who wants to study the Bible." Evangelist Benjamin Garlick, 32, was recently arrested and charged with several counts of child rape, while his wife, 29-year-old Shaantal Garlick, was charged with one count of facilitation of aggravated rape of a child and one count of aggravated child abuse or endangerment to a child aged 8 and younger. A Tennessee-based Christian publishing ministry that rented a building to the evangelist says it was "shocked" to learn of the allegations. Read more.
The United Methodist Church's Alabama-West Florida Conference has implemented a reaffiliation policy for congregations that have walked away from the denomination amid its schism over homosexuality. The conference approved the disaffiliations of 193 congregations, representing 39% of its total membership, in May. Read more.
More than 90% of registered voters agree that the graphic sexual descriptions and illustrations in the book Gender Queer, which is stocked in multiple public school libraries in the U.S., are "inappropriate" for students. The book's presence in public schools has been widely criticized by parents and political leaders for its graphic depictions of various sex acts, including images of oral sex and pictures of finger penetration and sticking objects in one's rectum. U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the progressive Democrat who was the longest-serving senator from California, has died at age 90 following a decades-long political career. Feinstein, who authored and helped to pass the 1994 federal assault weapons ban that remained in effect until Congress let it expire in 2004, also championed the legalization of same-sex marriage. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is widely viewed as an attractive alternative to former President Donald Trump for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
