Cosmopolitan X Skateistan Skate Jam

Here at Skateistan, we believe that girls are just as awesome as boys, both in the classroom and in the skatepark. So we were super excited when Cosmopolitan Magazine (South Africa) got in touch to say they’d like to host a skate jam for our female students in Johannesburg.

We were delighted to inspire our own female students as well as women from our community who tried skateboarding for the first time.

Meet the Citizens: Diego Fiorese

We are super happy to welcome Diego Fiorese to the Citizens of Skateistan community. Apart from being one of South America's most amazing skaters, Diego also runs his own social skate project in Brazil called Skate Feliz. And here's his reason for joining the Citizens of Skateistan:

"I support Skateistan because when we skateboard, we are neither in the past nor in the future — we are in the very present moment. All that children need is love, friendship and leaders to support their ideas."

Goodpush Update: Supporting Social Skate Projects in Iraq, Palestine and Jordan

Back in June, we announced the Goodpush Alliance, Skateistan’s first step in supporting and sharing knowledge among social skate projects worldwide. We are keen to empower as many children and young people as possible through skateboarding, and one of the ways we can do this is by sharing our experience and building connections with other organizations who are already doing amazing things.

Last month, our Skate Project Specialist, Rhianon, travelled to Iraq, Palestine and Jordan to visit three partner organizations. Her aim was to help them grow their programs and reach more children through skateboarding.

Meet the Citizens: Mark D.

This month we were pleased to welcome another awesome member to the Citizens of Skateistan family! Mark is a long-time skater and supporter of the Skateistan. Here's what he had to say about his motivation for joining the Citizens.
