We Love Seeing You at the Smithsonian American Art Museum & Renwick Gallery
SAAM Reopens on January 29 Renwick Gallery on February 2
“I have this idea... that art is something that makes you breathe with a different kind of happiness.” – Anni Albers
You bring our museums to life. Conversations in the galleries, applause during a performance, laughter over lunch in the Kogod Courtyard, a child's joyful cry during a family program: these sounds enliven our spaces, the audible sign of people connecting with art. With wide smiles and open doors, the staff and volunteers at SAAM and the Renwick Gallery are ready to welcome you back now that the partial government shutdown has ended with art, programs, and community spaces to breathe those happy sounds once more. SAAM will reopen on Tuesday, January 29, 11:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m. The Renwick Gallery will reopen Saturday, February 2, 10:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. to allow time to prepare No Spectators: The Art of Burning Man for travel to its next venue. Please note that a number of programs scheduled for early February had to be canceled, including the Chinese New Year Family Celebration. See the calendar of events for all upcoming scheduled tours and programs at SAAM and the Renwick Gallery.
