They then kicked into detective mode, following the slime trail to a bag with another snail peeping out of an opening. Before long they’d seized 93 snails, 62 pounds of fish and smoked meat, and a suitcase of rotting meat, all imported from Nigeria. “Never in the history of the Düsseldorf customs office has a trail of slime led us to smuggled goods,” said spokesman Michael Walk.
