It's good to be back after a week long vacation in London. Lunch with the new Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, didn’t happen as planned. ;) I did enjoy visiting the Churchill War Rooms, Westminster Abbey, British Museum and the Imperial War Museum. Those venues were all packed with tourists from around the world. It was very interesting to hear the wide array of languages being spoken. It's good to be home with my GMSA family. Based off what the women behind a local group that calls itself The Tribe have experienced, that could hinder women's chance of stepping into a CrossFit gym and building relationships with other women. In 2018, one of the gym's coaches, Brooke Iglesias, created "Break Down The Walls," a monthly class within the Tribe that is geared toward women. First ever San Antonio Brunch Festival to take place next month Brunch fans will rejoice at the opportunity to take part in this new festival. The San Antonio Brunch Festival will take place on Sept. 28. Organizers say 14 to 16 restaurants will take part in the event and compete to see who is the best brunch restaurant in town. The event will include live music and will take place at Smoke: BBQ Restaurant at 1170 E. Commerce St. Get half-off admission to San Antonio Zoo for locals day You can go to the San Antonio Zoo for half off the normal price of admission on Aug. 12. San Antonio Zoo frequently hosts locals day for residents of San Antonio and the surrounding areas. Admission is regularly $17.50 for adults and $14.25 for children ages 3 to 11, but the price drops to $8 per person on locals day. The nearly 50 percent savings allows locals to enjoy all the zoo has to offer, including the koalas who are still visiting from San Diego Zoo. Today's Headlines Records: Teen seen punching, slapping unconscious girl in viral video is arrested Authorities arrested a 17-year-old captured on video slapping and punching an unconscious 15-year-old girl, an arrest affidavit states and online records show. Ernesto Barrera faces an assault charge in connection with the incident. The video, which went viral and was sent to KSAT 12 numerous times last week, shows a teen in the passenger seat of a vehicle turning around to hit a girl who appears to be blacked out in the back seat. The video was reported to police numerous times but police were unable to immediately identify the victim, the affidavit states. Cyber P-Tech USA at Sam Houston HS: a game changer for SAISD and the community San Antonio ISD's first day of school is Monday and this year, the district has a new program called P-Tech. It's a free opportunity for high school students to get a head start if they want a career in the cyber world. I’ve been very interested in coding ever since I’ve worked with Blocks. Now I’m going into Python, which is the more advanced version of coding,” incoming ninth-grader Josiah James said. James is one of the many students who applied for, and was accepted into, the program at Sam Houston High School. Local jazz legend Jim Cullum Jr. dies at 77 Jim Cullum Jr., a legendary San Antonio jazz artist who, for nearly five decades, entertained locals and visitors alike at the Landing on the Riverwalk, died Sunday, his personal assistant confirmed. Cullum, 77, and his cornet were at the heart of the Jim Cullum Jazz Band.
