Firefighter Greg Garza, 49, was among a group of firefighters who responded to a call for an electrical problem at the Comfort Inn Suites in the 500 block of Live Oak Street around 7 a.m., when he stumbled while exiting a fire apparatus and was hit by a van. KSAT Weather: Flooding could be issue during morning commute As the front continues to move through, the heaviest storms will push to the south. SAPD officer pulled out woman's tampon on side of road, $205K settlement expected The city of San Antonio is scheduled to vote Thursday on a possible $205,000 settlement for a woman who claims a San Antonio Police officer pulled out her tampon and searched her vaginal cavity on a public street in August 2016. Simms filed a federal lawsuit against the city of San Antonio after she was approached by police while sitting on the side of a public street, talking on the phone and waiting for her boyfriend. The 17-year member of the San Antonio Fire Department was struck and killed by a van. The San Antonio Firefighters Benevolent Fund, which is a nonprofit organization, says 100% of the funds it collects will be given to the Garza family. Bexar Sheriff fires deputy arrested on weapons charges, disciplines 9 other employees A deputy accused of unlawfully carrying a handgun while in uniform earlier this year has been formally terminated by the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, according to suspension records released this week. Deputy Veronica Dado was given an order of dismissal Aug. 9, weeks after her July arrest for unlawful carrying of a weapon. She remains free on bond. Her next court appearance is scheduled for November, county clerk records show.
