This #Giving Tuesday we are fundraising to Empower MORE lives than ever!

In 2019, World TEAM proudly served approximately 200 adaptive athletes across our five national events. We continually strive to find and serve new participants. One of these new athletes is Carrie Flowers.

As a native of Northern Florida, Carrie grew up surrounded by the beauty of a national forest and the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico, instilling in her a love of the outdoors.  In 2005, just before her high school graduation, she was involved in a car accident that left her paralyzed.  Determined to not be left behind, she rehabbed at Shepherd Center in Atlanta, and after graduating Florida State University, she found her calling as an educator, and as a volleyball coach. 

Now living in Texas, Carrie was introduced to World TEAM by a fellow adaptive athlete.  Carrie joined the Adventure TEAM Challenge Colorado in Fall, 2019.  Grateful for the opportunity to be part of a team, Carrie shared in her post event blog her feelings upon meeting her fellow participants.  “I wasn’t different.  I didn’t have the biggest story there was in the room, and the people I was around were just as amazing as I may seem.  I was just Carrie…”

Carrie shared that this event changed her life "ATC had some of the strongest people I had ever met. They enabled me to do things I never thought possible and inspired me to help others do the same. I am thankful that I have become a part of the World T.E.A.M. family.”
