Cancer doesn’t stop during a pandemic.
Now, more than ever, Canadians living with cancer need our support. They are among the most vulnerable in our communities since their compromised immune systems puts them at a greater risk of more serious outcomes if they contract COVID-19.
And those who are required to travel outside of their communities to receive their life-saving treatment are not only leaving their family and friends during a physically and emotionally difficult time, they are also leaving the safety of their homes.
The Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) lodges are there to provide them with a safe, comfortable place to stay during treatment. But we need your help.
We’ve made significant updates to our lodges to ensure the safety of our guests — all of whom are in active treatment. These include: Installing plexiglass barriers in reception areas and throughout the lodges Renovating entrances with a buzzer system to allow for thorough screening before entry Providing Personal Protective Equipment and thermometers to guests and staff Enhanced daily cleaning and sanitation protocols. Additional funds are urgently needed to cover the ongoing costs of essential equipment and sanitation to keep our lodge guests safe during this pandemic.
