| | News Releases Utah Valley University Ethics Bowl Team places 4th nationally, sweeps Utah competition Utah Valley University Ethics Bowl Team finished its year strong by placing fourth at the national 28th annual Association for Practical and Professional Ethics Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl in Cincinnati in February and by sweeping the Wasatch Regional Ethics Bowl last fall. UVUâs team beat Yale, San Jose State, Maryland, and Costal Carolina and 36 others to reach its fourth place finish nationally, and Salt Lake Community College, Snow College, University of Utah, Utah State University, Weber State University, and Westminster College at the Wasatch regionals. (Read More) FTC and Utah lawsuit results in over $10 million in refunds to consumers The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is issuing over $10 million in refunds to consumers who paid for a deceptive real estate investment training scheme that falsely promised significant profits through âflippingâ houses. The FTC and the Utah Attorney Generalâs Office, on behalf of the Utah Department of Commerceâs Division of Consumer Protection, sued Response Marketing Group, LLC in November 2019, alleging that the company, its affiliates Nudge, LLC and BuyPD, LLC, and its principals used false promises to sell consumers a series of expensive real estate investment training programs. The FTC later named two real estate celebrities as additional defendants â Scott Yancey, the star of the home-flipping show Flipping Vegas, and Dean R. Graziosi, the author of Millionaire Success Habits. According to the amended complaint, Yancey and Graziosi promoted the training programs and were involved in efforts to bury online customer complaints that said Response Marketing failed to deliver on its promises or that it was a scam. He was a Utah Senator, a U.S. Senator and the only Supreme Court Justice to come from Utah. Conservative Utah think tank Sutherland Institute is named for George. 1911 - The Triangle Shirtwaist Company factory sweatshop in New York City burns down, killing 146 workers, almost all of them women. 1919 - Woodrow Wilson's dream of a League of Nations becomes a reality after the League Covenant is adopted at the Paris Peace Conference 1931 - Ida B. Wells-Barnett dies of kidney failure at age 68. 1949 - Lillian E. Fishburne is born.
