In a period of Formula 1 dominance like we’re experiencing right now, it’s easy to get a little jaded over its predictability – so why not look elsewhere for some bright young talent enjoying motorsport success? In NASCAR, 24-year-old Chase Elliott won his first Cup title on Sunday – despite starting at the back of the grid! – following in his father Bill’s footsteps. He was already NASCAR’s most popular driver, and now Chase is enjoying the success to back it up. And it looks like we’ll see him in the Rolex 24 at Daytona next year too! In MotoGP, Joan Mir is a year younger than Elliott and seems set for the 2020 title after a stealthy campaign on his Suzuki. He took his time in winning that first race at this level, but I’ve got a feeling that his victory in Valencia will help him kick on. He’s certainly the title favourite now.
