State unemployment rate edges upward in February

South Carolina’s unemployment rate ticked upward in February in the first such increase since August 2019.Unemployment increased to 2.5% from January’s rate of 2.4%, according to S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce figures.

Erin Ford named to S.C. District Export Council

Erin Ford, executive vice president of SCBio, has been appointed by the U.S. Department of Commerce to serve on the S.C. District Export Council. Ford, among 1,500 other district export council members across the country, will coordinate with exporters and export service providers to help promote U.S. economic growth and trade.

Lions Club cancels torunament but raises money anyway

The Greer Centennial Lions Club found a way to raise money after canceling a fund-raising bass tournament planned for this weekend. The Lions asked sponsors to contribute and the club donated $3,000 each three organizations, including Greer Relief (pictured), Greer Community Ministries and the Greer Soup Kitchen.
