Attorney General Merrick Garland said he could not discuss the investigation on Thursday. However, in a public statement at the Justice Department, he announced he had personally authorized the decision to seek court permission for a search warrant. He asked a judge to unseal the search warrant for former president Trump's Mar-a-Lago home. Trump said he will not oppose the release of documents related to the search and in fact, called for their immediate release.
