Gardening By Trial And Error

Gardening By Trial And Error - canary grassI'm not stingy. If I had all the money I've given to people in need, I could take a nice trip abroad. Still, I find watching pennies while gardening to really pay off in the long run.

Grow Your Own Tomato Plants

By littergitter

Grow your Own Tomato Plants - plants in cupsLast spring was the first time we ever tried growing our own tomato plants. We had a big plastic tank that didn't work well for what we got it for. My husband removed the plastic and used the frame to make a greenhouse.

Organizing Seeds

By likekinds

Organizing Seeds - lots of seed packetsI try to keep my seeds handy and in order. I've never been able to do just that. I have paper bags of seeds. I have jars of seed, lots of baby food jars from when I raised a robin. There are large plastic bags and more. The only ones I've managed to corral are the smaller seed. I have hundreds of packs of them.

Condo Gardening

By jenspoke

Condo Gardening - container veggie garden on a balconyLiving in an apartment, I've tried community gardens. I am not a great fan of it, because I actually had to commute to the garden, which was time consuming and cost gas, which defeated the purpose for me. I tried other options. I have two balconies, one faces west the other east, so great sun exposure.

By Richard

Save lukewarm water from hot water tap.Instead of running the hot tap, while waiting for the water to get hot, and letting the water run down the sink, I keep a large jug by the sink and run the water into that.

Building Wheelchair Accessible Raised Beds
In the summer of 2011, I had raised beds made to accommodate a wheelchair and my short arm width necessary to reach across to weed. They have landscape fabric to control weeds on the bottom, a layer of sod face down, then layers of newspaper and leaves that will decompose and on top, regular soil.
Use Old Inner Tubes for Staking a Tree
Save your old ruined bike inner tubes. The make great tree holders when staking a tree, and require no cutting.

John Deere L108 Won't Start
