This Science Week, the ABC is celebrating Australia's unique native trees - and we want to find which one is the country's favourite!
With more than 100,000 votes in the search for Australia's favourite tree for National Science Week - it's time to get (a bit more) serious!
The trees have been pruned down to the top 20 and the second round of voting is underway.
The species that have made the cut are some of the most iconic among all of our continent's unique and spectacular flora. Many of them are gum trees - the ghost gum, gungurru, karri, mountain ash, red flowering gum, river red gum, snow gum and Sydney red gum have all made the top 20.
With the bottom 13 trees from the starting line-up now eliminated, we sadly said goodbye to the coolabah, the mulga, and grey mangrove, among others.
The red cabbage palm gets the "black stump" award for the least votes - but we still love it in all its rare, spindly majesty.
Don’t forget to cast your vote to nominate your favourite native Australian tree!
